The Railroad Reservation

This components of the 1887 map are available on the University of Alabama website, and is an electronic compilation

by the author.  It shows the Railroad Reservation in 1887 and gives an indication of the character of activity there.

Notice that the railroads had their primary shops in the railroad reservation.  L&N later moved to Boyles Yard, and

Georgia Pacific (Southern) later moved to Norris Yard.
