Further up the south slope of Red Mountain several sites like this one were found.  At each of these locations, there was indication of a vertical face on the side of the "hollow" that we were climbing.  As you will see, there is indication that these faces were man made.  Is it possible that these were the overburden above a mine opening that went into the adjacent ore seam from the side, rather than from the top.  Randy Gray is checking the material -- he is a geologist retired from Woodward Iron.
