One of the interesting items found were threaded anchor bolts about one inch in diameter.  In at least one area a built up footing was found and is believed to be a machinery mount.  Here, John Stewart is cleaning off the footing from years of vegetation and forest litter.  The anchor bolt pattern on this footing was two rows of four bolts, and the distance from first to fourth bolt was about 13 feet.  Assuming one device was anchored here, it could have been a steam engine, a pump, a compressor or a hoist.  A literature search indicates that there were many devices available that would have fit on this footing in the 1870's.
